Every ten minutes there is a disaster in the world. Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes can strike communities with little or no warning. The Church of the Brethren world wide prepares to help whenever and wherever needed by conducting fund-raising activities and sending work teams to disaster areas.
The annual Disaster Relief Auction held in May at the Rockingham County Fairground generates a large amount of money for relief activities in disaster-stricken areas. 100% of all money raised for this cause goes directly to those in need.
Locally, our church and some businesses support and contribute to the auction. The Church of the Brethren doesn’t stop with just giving money. Teams of people are sent to assist disaster victims with rebuilding their home and lives. We’re there helping months after the damage is done. If you would like to participate in this ministry in some manner, please contact our Witness Commission through the church office at 662-2350.

Our bi-monthly newsletter, The Calvary Messenger is produced with articles from our church family, edited in the church office and printed by a member and local business owner. It is a unique ministry which provides our church family with the opportunity to exchange news, information and other items of interest. There is a shortened newsletter/bulletin which goes out in the alternating months which is generated from and printed in the church office.

Dedicated to committing their work to the Lord, the Women’s Fellowship has been active at Calvary for over 50 years. This outreach is a labor of love for the cause of Christ, functioning to encourage its members and to grow in God’s Word. Activities are numerous and vary, from the purchase of equipment and supplies for the needs at Calvary to outreach projects that stretch across the nation. The fellowship is held each second Thursday of the month in the Fellowship Hall. Activities include a business meeting, Bible study and a carry-in lunch. After lunch quilting and other projects are continued.
